Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Foundation Trust is keen to develop its IT systems with increasing recognition of the opportunity that exists for their use in primary care. To this end we are embarking on a programme of IT developments which will improve this situation. This will include the development of discharge information and other correspondence which will electronically transmissible. This will be done so the information can be initially read where required, but then easily enters the patient information held on the GP system.

The Web Clinical Viewer product allows GPs to access Trust held electronic patient records. The data that is available includes Pathology results, Xray reports, Endoscopy Reports, Inpatient and Outpatient information, A&E contacts, Theatre Details and Clinic and Discharge letters also.

There is a restriction built into the system that means that GPs can only see patients that are registered (according to the hospital system) at their practice. We are investigating ways to automate this to ensure this is as accurate as possible.

New Developments in Web CV

  • eCaMIS servers have been updated leading to speedier search results
  • Deceased indicator at the right hand side of the patient names when you do the initial search.
  • Busy indicators so you are aware the system is searching.
  • Event Filter criteria so that you can select which events you wish to see. You can either scroll through the list or if you are after biochemistry (for example) press b and that will jump you to the first b in the list and you can repeat until you find it. You can select one or many events so that it will not take as long to retrieve the events.
  • Months Filter - you now need to enter the number of months activity you wish to retrieve. This will default to 3 months but you can alter this to be anything up to 99 months.
  • Histopathology is now available on Web CV
  • Results screen now includes;
    • Start date
    • Qualifier – gives specific information such as which test
    • Status
Results Screen
  • You can now click on event or icon to see result
  • Deceased Patient IconDeceased patients are identified at the search stage with this icon
