Ward 26

Ward 26 is home to our Older Persons’ Assessment Unit(OPAU), a specialist hub where staff assess the complex needs of patients within two hours and develop an individual care plan.

If your assessment shows your stay in hospital is likely to be more than three days, we will move you to one of our older persons' short-stay wards. If your assessment shows your stay in hospital is likely to be longer than a week, we will move you to one of our older persons’ medical wards. In either case, our skilled team members will do all they can to help you back to being medically well as soon as possible. Our teams will also do all they can to help your discharge from hospital run smoothly.

Medical research shows the sooner medically stable patients return to their familiar, everyday surroundings, the better their health and wellbeing is, helping to speed their full recovery and even increasing their overall lifespan.

We want your hospital stay to be the best that it can be. Ensuring that you have the best care and treatment while you are on our ward is really important to us.

If you are not happy with the care that we are providing please ask for the nurse in charge. We want to be able to answer and address your questions and concerns as soon as possible and improve your experience, or that of your relative, while you are here.

Your feedback will also help us improve the experience of other patients.

If you are having a good experience on our ward we would also like to hear from you.
