The Children and Families Act 2014 has huge implications for how the NHS organises and delivers services to children and young people who have a Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND).

A Pan Dorset approach has been used in supporting the implementation of the SEND reforms, with the CCG working with the three local authorities, (Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole).

Special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0 to 25 years provides statutory guidance on duties, policies and procedures relating to children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) and disabled children and young people. Chapter 9 (Page 141) outlines responsibilities for the Education and Health Care Plan.

A briefing for health services on the Children and Families Act 2014 | Council for Disabled Children highlights the key reforms in the Children and Families Act 2014 and some of the key issues for health professionals.
