The Bournemouth and Christchurch GP Phlebotomy Service is changing

The way you have blood tests is changing. As of Monday 15 April, phlebotomy services will be offered by your local GP surgery. The idea behind the change is to make the service more efficient and convenient for you and to save you an additional trip to the hospital.

If you have a blood test requested by your GP issued before 15 April, please phone your surgery to book a blood appointment.

From 15 April Christchurch Hospital will no longer be offering blood tests upon GP requests. If your surgery isn’t able to offer blood tests yet please attend the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s Phlebotomy Department. We recommend calling to book an appointment on 01202 704785 to avoid a long wait during this transition period.

If you have a blood test requested by the hospital, you can continue to attend Christchurch Hospital, as well as the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The change doesn’t affect patients who have booked appointments for their warfarin INR.

We appreciate that Christchurch Hospital’s phlebotomy service has been highly valued over the last 30 years but we hope the new arrangements at your GP surgery will prove convenient to you.
