Masonic lodges fund four new reclining chairs for Cardiology Department

13 June

A number of local masonic lodges have funded four new specialist reclining chairs for patients being treated at the Cardiology Department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH).

The donations totalled £2,600 and the chairs will help cardiology patients with their recovery and management of their symptoms when visiting the hospital.

Margaret Campbell, Senior Therapy Assistant, said: “I saw the need for reclining chairs, as we advise patients to sit with their legs elevated due to their conditions, and we could not enable them to do this until now.

“We originally asked for two chairs, but due to the kind and generous donations from the Lodges, we were able to provide four for our department.”

Vaibhav Sawant, Worshipful Master and Manager of “The Knole” - Home of Freemasonry in Bournemouth, said: “It was a pleasure to help such a worthy cause. When the appeal came through, almost all the Lodges made generous donations. We all know how important the hospital is for all of us in the community and the wonderful work it does.”

Sara Armstrong, Senior Community Fundraiser for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “We are so grateful to all of the Lodges for their generous donations and their continued support for projects here at Bournemouth Hospital Charity.

“It was really meaningful for us to invite members of the Lodges to see what their donations have purchased and to hear how the chairs will benefit patients at our hospital.”
