‘Thank you’ pearl anniversary party held for Trust volunteers

24 September 2019

Volunteers from The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals (RBCH) were treated to a ‘Pearly Kings and Queens’ themed tea party recently to thank them for all their support.

The party, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) later this year, saw over 200 volunteers celebrate with live music from ‘Retro Rita’ and the ‘Rockney Rebels’.

Members of the Trust’s Board of Directors, directorate managers and pupils from St Peters’ School in Bournemouth served an assortment of tea and sandwiches to the volunteers who attended the event, held in the grounds of RBH on Saturday 21 September.

Wanda Griffin, volunteer and dementia and delirium companion, won the Celia Fern award, which recognises the hard work and dedication put into volunteering.

Jacky Taylor, Volunteer Services Co-ordinator said: “It was fantastic to be able to recognise so many of our volunteers at this event, not only our own ‘bluecoat volunteers’, but all those from the many other voluntary organisations who give their time feely to support our Trust.

“Together they give countless hours of their time freely and ultimately help to make the experience of our patients even better. Thank you to all our volunteer colleagues.”

If you would like to volunteer for the Trust, please contact the Voluntary Services via the dedicated recruitment line on 01202 704690 or email proudtovolunteer@rbch.nhs.uk
