Popular Open Day returns

27 September 2019

The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospital’s popular Open Day will return on Saturday 19 October from 10am-3pm at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital site.

Over 1,000 people visited the event last year and the 2019 Open Day is set to be even better. Visitors can go behind the scenes in theatres, take part in quizzes and competitions and find out more about what it’s like to work for the NHS.

CPR demonstrations and what to do if someone is choking will take place throughout the day and the physiotherapy gym will be open showcasing the equipment and machines used and how these and other exercises can help prevent injuries and with recovery. Plans for the proposed developments on the three different hospital sites will also be on show in the Oasis Café.

A whole host of health checks will be available for visitors which include blood pressure checks, eye testing for adults and children as well as respiratory tests and weight and heights checks. The emergency services area will also be back with the police and fire service attending and the Safe Bus returning as well. The Decontamination Tent that is used during major incidents will also be available for visitors to see and find out about.
