New name for a new organisation

2 October

As part of our preparations for the merger between our two hospital trusts, we’re asking staff, patients, members of the public, our volunteers, foundation trust members and key partners to put forward suggestions for the name of the new organisation.

Importantly, none of the hospitals names will be changing – there will still be Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals.

The new organisation’s name should be:

  • distinct from other NHS organisations in the area
  • contain a geographical reference (which could include well known features, places or population centres that we serve, as well as a compass reference, eg ‘east’ or ‘south’), and
  • will always end ‘… NHS Foundation Trust.’

Further guidance can be found here.

Putting forward a name is simple and takes less than a minute; just click here.

The naming shortlisting panel will comprise representatives from our staff partnership forums, patient experience teams, HR and IT, as well as senior management.

Suggestions must be received by 18 October, with the panel meeting the following week to create a shortlist. You will have a further opportunity in November to express your preference from those shortlisted. The final name and the composition of the shadow Board of Directors for the new, merged organisation will be announced on 2 December.

We look forward to hearing from you!
