We love our EU NHS staff

Letter of appreciation and support to our EU and international members of staff working at Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals

Dear colleagues,

We really value our EU staff. As the UK approaches the date when we are scheduled to leave the EU, we would like to reaffirm our commitment to each and every one of you and reiterate how much we value your contribution across all areas of our hospitals.

We want you to feel supported during this period, knowing that you are playing a vital role within our hospitals.

In honour of that we have produced some films celebrating our EU staff to show them just how much we value their work - you can watch more of these here and below.

I'd particularly like to assure you that our combined Trust's support of EU staff continues and we are keen that EU staff can access help and support in a number of ways, as detailed in this short film.

Across both trusts

  • It is free to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. Our community partners, Dorset Race Equality Council can help with applications as can a local team at Citizens Advice.
  • All EU staff are invited to dedicated workshops aimed at providing support. There will be a workshop at Poole on Thursday 23 January between 11am to 12pm in Seminar Room 1 in Education Centre. Email or phone ext 2820. EU staff are also welcome to come along on the day if you haven't booked a place. Please email or phone ext 4438 for any upcoming Bournemouth workshops.

At Poole Hospital

  • For confidential help in filling in the EU Settlement Status form, please contact Kelly Taylor Operational HR Lead at Poole Hospital, ext 8433.
  • If you would like to be part of a network, please contact Marie Cleary, Staff Experience Lead at Poole Hospital. You can reach her on ext 2820.

  • The Chaplaincy team can also provide a confidential listening ear. You can find them on the first floor of the Trust Management Offices at RBH.

Managers have been advised to support any of you who may need to take time to seek guidance and help during this period.

If you or any of your colleagues are experiencing any inappropriate comments or behaviours, please do report these immediately. You can do this either with your line manager, your HR department or through the LERN system at RBCH or the Datix system at Poole. You can also speak to our Freedom to Speak Up Guardian and Ambassadors, just email or

Thank you for your continued commitment, hard work and professionalism - it is very much appreciated by me, your colleagues, and most importantly, by those whom you care for every day within our hospitals.
