Changes in digital technology are happening rapidly at the moment. Dorset is introducing some different digital solutions to help make things easier for patients and GPs.

  • Attend Anywhere - virtual clinics are being trialled by several services throughout Dorset. A patient can attend an on line waiting room and clinic and use video conferencing to talk to their consultant.
  • Consultant Connect - GPs can message certain specialities to talk directly to consultants about a patient. This has the potential to reduce referrals and enable the GP to give advice directly to the patient.

Nationally many apps and websites are available to help patients with their health needs. There is an NHS apps library on line, which gives details of all NHS assessed and approved apps, covering a wide range of subjects - https://www.nhs.uk/apps-library/

Other useful apps include WaitLess, an app that supports finding the best place to go for minor injuries. It includes travel time from your location, and accurate waits in the different local organisations. Also make the most of the NHS app, you can access lots of useful information, and book GP appointments on line, order repeat prescriptions and there is on line symptom guidance and advice.
