Condition checks

Condition checks are usually made by the media following an accident or other incident brought to their attention by the police or other emergency services. Checks are usually only carried out on patients who have life threatening injuries.

A condition check will only be made if you have the patient’s full name and preferably date of birth. This is to avoid errors in identity which could result in inaccurate information being given. A general statement, such as critical, stable or comfortable, will be given by the Communications Department (duty manager out of hours).
