Reducing our carbon footprint

How we are reducing our carbon footprint

In Bournemouth and Christchurch we are doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint. We have already:

  • Made it easier for staff to cycle with discounted cycling schemes, increased bike sheds, refurbished shower facilities
  • Installed intelligent lighting in the hospital corridors. The next phase will be to roll out the technology to wards and departments.
  • Upgraded facilities, including newer light fittings resulting in improved efficiency.
  • Made upgrades to the roofing to improve insulation on both the Alderney and Christchurch sites.
  • Installed automatic doors to minimise door open times, reduce drafts and heat loss.

What you can do to help

Everyone can play their part in reducing our carbon footprint. You can:

  • Use public transport where possible when travelling to hospital.Use our journey planner
  • Use the recycling bins where possible
  • Switch off lights when rooms are not in use
