Christchurch Hospital

Christchurch Hospital provides a pleasant environment for rehabilitation and a range of outpatient services. An all age rehabilitation service has been developed, particularly in the award-winning Day Hospital. Most patients are however elderly, reflecting the local population. There is an excellent infrastructure to support rehabilitation with superb physiotherapy and occupational therapy facilities.

Outpatient clinics have expanded over recent years and include gastroenterology, breast, oncology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, podiatry and medicine for the elderly. Dermatology and rheumatology outpatient services are also provided at Christchurch Hospital together with phlebotomy (blood taking) services for hospital requests, diagnostic services and palliative care (the Macmillan Unit).

We want to ensure that we continue to provide NHS services from Christchurch Hospital. Through public consultation, we have been implementing plans to ensure the hospital remains a focal point for the local community.

The future of Christchurch Hospital

There will be major developments at Christchurch Hospital over the next few years. Plans have been developed to provide a new Macmillan Hospice on the site, along with additional and improved NHS hospital facilities, and a retirement living village.
